All round great machine but a positive word of warning. This machine does NOT come with a "USB printer" lead so unless you are connecting by WI-FI order one at the same time. Also ink cartridges supplied have just enough to print a few A4 photos so would suggest you order them as well.
I have been a Epson fan for many years my last being the PX700W which gave what I thought was excellent results until the scanner unit twisted giving me distorted pictures. A lot of searching & comparison tests led me to the Canon 6150. Having used it & comparing it my previous Epson pictures the results are outstanding. Colours & detail are deep & vibrant. Yes there are a few niggles, why do you have to wade through a 30 page manual when it could easily have been condensed into a 2 page "quick start" sheet & intial start up to first print takes a good minute while it seems to have to go through a test & clean process.
Amazon was best price & now the machine has been out a few months original replacement inks can be sourced at a fair price.
Buy, you won't be dissappointed.

This has been my first printer from Canon and I've been extremely impressed. After years of Buying Epson, I switched to HP about 6 months ago and, when that broke (within the first month) I tolerated it until my stock of inks ran out before looking around for a replacement.

ON paper, the MG6150 ticked all the right boxes, separate ink tanks for economical replacement, all-in-one functionality, built in WiFi. And at a reasonable price too.

It arrived exceptionally well packaged and with clear setup instructions. It was up and running on 2 PCs at home within 30 minutes, with configuration being simplicity itself. The light-guided setup with a really clear screen on the device made configuring the wireless and every other aspect extremely straightofrward, The INstallation CD (one for PC and a separate one for Macs) auto-ran when I put it in and selecting the default installation options had everything working in very short order.

The quality of photo output is outstanding, easily the best I've seen. It also seems pretty economical with the inks considering the quality of printing. It's extremely quite in operation and doesn't make the table wobble either. With it's piano-black finish it looks the part and the build quality is very good as well.

Paper storage is neat too, regular paper gets tucked away in a drawer under the printer body so takes up minimal additional desk space. Photo paper is fed in from a loader at the rear. You can even print direct to CDs using the caddy supplied. The real bonus is that it does double-sided printing - a feature often missing from home printers... it saves on effort and it also saves on paper and it works really well.

All the main memory card formats are supported, COmpact Flash, Memory Stick, and SD, ith the slot being discretely located behind a panel on the front.

The scanner is also quick and quiet in use, and the copy function is a treat to use compared to my old HP device.

It's a fantastic printer for the money and, while ink cartridges are around £8 each, so nearly £50 for a full set, the fact that you only replace the ones that need replacing means that it won't usually be an "all at once" cost. I'm extremely glad that I bought it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone else.

When my ip3000 started to show its age, I spent spent months trawling through reviews of printers and came to the conclusion that almost all printers get aboout 20% telling you it's brilliant and about 20% that say buying it was the worst decision of their lives! When I finally made a decision I found that the printer I'd chosen (Canon MP640) had been superceded by the MG6150 so I went for that.

As you'd expect, it arrives in a large box containing the printer itself and a selection of bits that have to be connected to or inserted into it. I've done this sort of thing many times both at home and at work but I still found it necessary to consult the instructions as some of the assembly is far from intuative. Fitting the print head is probably the most demanding (but still quite easy) as you have to be very careful not to damage it as you put it into place. It's worth reading the instructions and studying the diagrams first. It took me about half an hour to get it all done bu the result was a good looking machine which appears to be well made with no flimsy bits that might break off as soon as you start using it.

Loading the software was easy on my PC and my wife's laptop. I wanted to use the printer wirelessly (it's got LAN & USB connection too) so I had to spend a few more minutes setting that up on the printer itself. You'll need to dig out your router's id and password to allow the printer to connect but it still only took a few minutes. The slowest part of this process is entering the password as there is no keyboard as such and you have to select the various letters and numbers using the up, down left and right buttons. It's a little time consuming but you only have to do it once.

The top of the printer has a pop-up screen built into it as well as about a dozen touch sensitive buttons to control it. These all work very well and I've found that you don't even have to actually touch them; just getting a finger very close will do.

Once you have worked through all the setup, printing is as easy as you could expect. Just press the PC's print button and the printer will automatically lower the output tray door ready to receive the printed paper. There are two input trays: a cassette under the printer which slides out at the front and another on top which can be used for envelopes or photo quality paper. The printer will select the appropriate paper if you select it from the print dialogue.

You'll find that the first print of the day (or after an hour or so's break) will take quite some time while printer goes tharogh all the processes it considers necessary. I find this frustrating but I haven't found a way to prevent it happening so frequently. The print quality is excellent. Black and white documents are crisp and colour illustrations come out pretty much as you'll see them on screen. Colour photos also come very well, albeit a little slowly. The colours are crisp with no noticeable bleeding into areas whre they don't belong. The printer is capable of producing borderless prints which are of excellent quality right up to the very edge.

Apart from printing documents are photos from the PC, the MG6150 has three main functions all selectable by using the just one of the buttons: scan, copy and photo.

Copying is simple; just lift the very top of the printer to insert the document to be copied, lower it again and press the Copy button. You can select up to 99 copies, magnify from between 25% and 400%, lighten or darken the output and choose colour or greyscale output as well as which paper to use.

Scanning is just as easy and gives a choice of output file type (JPEG, TIFF or PDF), the size to be scanned (A4, Letter, 15 x 100mm or auto)and the scan resolution as well as several other options. Scanning an A4 document to TIFF at 600 dpi took a total of about 30 seconds to arrive on the PC.

The Photo function allows you to print JPEG files directly from a memory card. The Photo function is selected automatically when you insert the card and by using the buttons and the on-screen display you can select which images to print as well as cropping them, choosing output size, format etc.

Ink consumption seems to be quite high but that goes for almost all inkjet printers. A complete replacement set of six genuine Canon inks will cost you about £50. I don't use compatable inks as their quality is very variable and I've even damaged a printer by using them in the past. It's worth the extra cost to get the genuine article.

Pros: Excellent print quality, easy to set up even if the assembly is a bit fiddly. Apart from the first print of the day it's fast enough for most users. Lots of different functions all of which are easy to use. Wi-fi connectivity makes using it from a laptop so much easier. Before I bought this mouse I read a lot of reviews and obviously had concerns about the battery life - I bought it regardless. I then read on the logitech forums that it is not the battery life that is bad, it is the battery life indicator on the mouse that is wrong, if you google something like logitech g700 battery indicator wrong, you will find the thread I am referring to. In the thread somebody plotted a graph etc. and the problem is that the indicator seems to be calibrated to normal alkaline batteries. Normal batteries start at 1.5v and as they deplete the voltage drops, the type of battery in the g700 (sanyo eneloop) starts at 1.2 and doesn't drop much until it is nearly depleted, this makes it appear like the battery is nearly dead pretty early on, but it has loads more charge left.

So, I put it to the test and didn't charge the mouse from opening the box until it died, it lasted 2 and a half days, most of this was on one green indicator light and I have been playing games all day pretty much so the mouse was in maximum gaming mode for a lot of the time. Bearing in mind that the battery could have been charged a long time ago so may have lost charge from the factory/warehouse to my house. If your motherboard still powers the usb ports when it is turned off then the battery isn't a problem, it will last all day then just charge it at night. This type of battery doesn't have to be depleted before you charge it, however they do have a limit on how many times they can be charged.

So onto the mouse itself, my best mouse, out of my previous mouses, was a cyber snipa silencer. I will be comparing to this mouse mainly. One thing I noticed straight away was the feel of the mouse, the outer shell is entirely made of plastic, with a textured, rougher feel on the sides. I do not really like this, I prefer rubber on the sides, not just for the feel and better grip, but also they tend to have grooves cut into them which means your hands don't get as sweaty. A thing I just really noticed as my hand gets sweaty with this mouse.

Another thing is your ring and pinky finger will scrape across your gaming surface/mouse mat, my previous mouse had 2 channels for your fingers to rest on and underneath was the mouse feet so your fingers never touched your gaming surface/mouse mat. This is obviously something I will get used to but it is my main dislike with this mouse. The scroll-wheel feels a little wobbly, maybes due to the ratchet/free wheel system - not a major problem but annoying again. These few things just make it feel a tad cheap to me, especially comparing it to a mouse which costs half the price.

The software is very easy to use, the pre-set commands are great, although I don't really use many of them it is great to have copy and paste as 2 of the four side buttons. I did have a problem in that I couldn't get it to auto-switch profiles for various games, this could be that all the games I play use a launcher, steam etc. and it is more-than-likely a user error. Instead I simply press the g11 button which swaps my profile from maximum gaming to productivity (I don't bother with general gaming), this is my preferred method of profile switching anyway, mainly due to laziness setting up auto-switch and ease as you just press a button.

In game the mouse feels great, the lack of a cord is obviously great, the mouse has no lag that any human could notice, the buttons are well located and very easy to press, the most difficult probably being the g8 button (the bottom one of the 3 little ones on the top), the 4 buttons on the side are easy to distinguish and easy to press (hardest thing is just getting used to there being 4). The LMB and RMB are very satisfying to click, something I never thought I would notice on a mouse, but they feel very mechanical and give a good click, the buttons are sturdy and have no wobble (says something about my old mouse).

If your battery did die during a game and you have to use the charging cable you will not be happy, it is horrible, so very thick, not flexible, heavy, just so awful especially from going from beautiful wireless to the worst wired. If you charge it overnight you will be fine everyday. If your motherboard does not power the usb ports you can just plug it into an iphone charger, it works but obviously do it own risk etc. but really it will be fine. Or you could just buy a battery charger and batteries and you will be good to go.

I would give it a 4 but the things wrong with it are just things I am not used to having, after using my previous mouse for over 2 years daily, bar the slightly wobbly scroll wheel.

After using this mouse for a month I can say: The battery lasts about 3 days before it has been on critical too long and I should charge it; I got the auto-switch profiles to work (user-error); I bought a rechargeable battery from ebay for £1.30, if a battery runs... Read more

This mouse is a great gaming mouse, having updated from the MX Revolution it feels very similar.
it has a good selection of buttons which allows for great gaming.

However there are some issues:
The mouse's battery lasts about 2 seconds(2 hours) in gaming mode and even though it can be connected using the cable it feels very stiff after connecting, so if your in the middle of a game you have to adjust your aiming style.

Also as a good tip when not in a Game put it back into power saver mode otherwise the battery will not last more than a few hours.

overall quite pleased but slight things tweaked/added could have made this mouse one of the best, however because of this it just falls short and falls into the category of just a good mouse.

Probably the best mouse I've ever bought!
Nothing i could really say that's bad about it to be honest, i could moan that the usb charging cable that comes with it can sometimes feel a little thick and influence the mouse ever so slightly, but then im just nit-picking at a very beautifully designed, and well tested mouse.
This mouse replaced a Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse that i had before, and when i tried that old mouse on my laptop, i was amazed how this G700 fits so well into your hand. I almost think that its too comfortable that your hand is not used to it, so it feels weird at first.

I would undoubtedly recommend this product to anybody that was looking for a new mouse. Definitely worth the price tag.

Packaging
Well packaged in a sturdy box, and then a plastic inner container that should protect it from bumps and jars in the post. the box contains the GoFlex drive, a Quick Start Guide and a Guarantee card. The drive itself is small and compact looking like a gloss black cigarette case, with the Seagate logo on the top and a manufacturers label beneath. It looks stylish and won't take up hardly any desk or shelf space.

Installation
The GoFlex is very easy to install. Just plug the adapter into the back of the drive and then the other end into a spare USB 2.0 port and your done. If you have autorun enabled you will be prompted to install the software, if it doesn't autorun on connection you can just run setup.exe in the drives root folder. Once up and running there are two icons added to your system tray (by the clock), one for Seagate Dashboard, and one for Memeo Instant Backup. As soon as both the Seagate Dashboard and Memeo Instant Backup packages had installed they checked for and downloaded updates. Once plugged in the GoFlex drive appears in Windows Explorer as another Hard Disk Drive (in my case labeled as "FreeAgent GoFlex Drive"), and can be used just like any other Disk Drive.

Using Seagate Dashboard
The Seagate Dashboard provides quick access to all your GoFlex features such as, drive information, test your drive, LED settings, etc. Also it lists which Memeo applications you have installed and allows you to launch them.

Using Memeo Instant Backup
Memeo Instant Backup is a basic but functional backup software that will be all many users will need. It is very easy to set up which files and folders you want to back up simply by dragging and dropping folders and files into the Advanced Options dialog. Once there, however, you cannot pick and choose which you want to include or exclude. While sitting in your System Tray Memeo Instant Backup watched for any changes made to the Files and Folders you configured. If it spots something change it instantly checks and backs it up. This can be a little to quick at times and can cause some programs to gripe that a file is no longer accessible. Also, if you have it set to backup a constantly changing folder (e.g. your Firefox profile folder), it will be constantly updating the changes to the files there and this can make the rest of the backup in progress slow to a virtual halt.

Expansion
It is possible to connect your GoFlex drive using other ports by purchasing add-on cables: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Powered eSATA Upgrade Cable, Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex FireWire 800 Upgrade Cable and Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex USB 3.0 Upgrade Cable. This enables your drive to be pretty much future proof.

Conclusion
The Seagate GoFlex Ultra Portable is a very easy to install and use system for backing up your data, to simply add extra storage space or to make carrying your data around easier and lighter. You are not limited to the software provided and can easily use the one of your choice, and likewise the drive itself is able to function as a plain Hard Disk Drive. Many of the limitations in the included Memeo software, are gone in the Memeo Premium Backup package that is available.

Tested on a PC with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Full Version (PC DVD), 1 User 64 bit.

It's hard sometimes to get excited about hard drives, but there's something about this one that has just tipped the balance and made me go for the 5 stars. I've used this little package as a back-up for my iMac. I already use Time Machine which routes through to a stand-alone desktop hard-drive, so this is the back up to my back up. I figured you can't be too careful, and if the worst were to happen I'd lose all my music and photos, and life would somehow not be worth living. So I set this up using the Mac's Disk Utility, and simply copied everything over. It took about 1.5 hours to throw about 250 gigabytes of data over, and there it is. Safe as houses. And the drive is only half full! It's totally portable so needs no power supply, you just plug and go. Totally quiet in operation and didn't run warm. Excellent drive and highly recommended.

I have never had a hard drive fail or experienced a major virus attack but I don't fully trust either my PC or any single back up device. As a result, I have a few portable drives in play (a 'ghost image' to replicate the entire drive, documents and media - each in duplicate). These days the cost of such belt and braces is far less than the implications of a total loss. However, until recently this involved a drawer full of chargers for different makes and models and another with several drives the size of small bricks. Carrying a drive around required a carrier bag.

All that has changed with this genre of super mini sized drives (the dimensions on site are incorrect - the Goflex is only 12.5 x 8 x 1.3 cm). Powered via USB, there are no bulky adapters and the drive will fit in a pocket. The comparison is between the first mobile phone bricks and the present day models but the difference is that this miniaturisation has occurred in just a couple of years. The 'Ultra Portable' is definitely the way to go and a slight spin with the Goflex is that you can buy a different 'front end' if you decide, or need, to connect via Firewire or USB 3.

The model runs cold and silent, which I like and is fast enough for all tasks. It is also discreetly elegant, although it falls just short of the Apple fashion standard. The gigabyte per £ ratio is good but with the cost of storage memory continuing to fall exponentially, space is now purely a commodity, bought by the ton. Two years seems to be slightly sparing on the guarantee for a good name like Seagate, which has a good name for reliability.

I use hard drives on a drag and drop basis and have never got on with automatic backup programs; as a result I declined the prompt to load the bundled Memeo backup software - you don't need it to use the hard drive. The encryption software included with Memeo could be useful if you take a hard drive between sites - there isn't much data that I would be comfortable to have in the wrong hands. However, note that you can only decrypt using the Memeo software - it isn't a universal lock/unlock password system.

Ultra portable is definitely a step forward in utility value but I don't know of any variant with a unique selling point that takes it above a basic workhorse; these are essentially 3.5 inch sealed drives with a casing. However, this unit is competent, quiet, cold, fast, small, economic, smart and from a reliable name. What more can I say? Except maybe offer a tip. Don't forget to back up your email data files. Often, the data files for programs such as Outlook are buried and it is easy to forget to back them up for months or years. However, they can contain valuable information. I create a shortcut to the hidden data file to make it easy to backup along with everything else.

My old laptop was 7 years old. Not being an expert when I decided to change I looked around for a while and ended up selecting from a long list. The Acer Aspire is a powerful laptop with fast response and lots of memory (even after loading lots of software) and the graphics are excellent. Regarding value when comparing this with others I reckon it was at least some 25% lower in cost than its competitors. I know there is a long way to go to compete with my old 7 year old laptop but my initial impression is good value at a competitive price.
